This course is designed to define terms associated with an active violence event, identify tactics used by first responders with which the telecommunicator may not be familiar, and discuss options when a person finds themselves in an active violence event.

Scott Fulton started his public safety career as a firefighter in Connecticut. After moving to Tennessee, he was hired by the Metro Nashville 9-1-1 center where he worked as a front-line telecommunicator for several years before going to the police academy. He has been a police officer for 20 years with a focus on training, for most of that time. Scott currently works for the Mt. Juliet, Tennessee Police Department where he's assigned as the evening shift patrol supervisor and the Crisis Negotiations Team Commander.
