The purpose of this course is to inform and educate Michigan officers on new legislation. This course discusses Fourth Amendment search and seizure, consent searches, vehicle searches, and the use of force.

Mike Falvo
Expertise:
Retired Second Deputy Chief of Detroit Police Department; Adjunct Faculty at Wayne State University.
Mike Falvo retired from the Detroit Police Department after 29 years of service. He was in charge of labor relations for 17 years and served as the Police Legal Advisor. Upon retirement, Falvo became the Supervising Assistant Corporation Counsel in the Police Legal Advisor Section of the City of Detroit Law Department. He rejoined the Detroit Police Department as Legal Training Coordinator and was appointed Second Deputy Chief. Falvo earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Michigan State University and earned his law degree from Wayne State University. He has trained at the FBI National Academy Legal Advisor Program and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Council. Falvo teaches Constitutional Criminal Procedure at Wayne State University where he has taught for 25 years. He is also a full-time arbitrator.
