School Vulnerability Assessment
This course will provide information regarding distinguishing between security versus crisis and emphasizing the importance of a safety plan initiative. It will review considerations for adaptation within a plan as well as vulnerability assessments and involvement of crime prevention through environmental design best practices.

Don Green & Jeff Stiles

Don Green is a consultant for Virtual Academy as well as the Blount County Sheriff's Office. Jeff Stiles works in the management service division out of the Deputy Chief's office.
Don Green currently serves both as a consultant for Savant Learning System’s Virtual Academy and works with the Blount County Sheriff’s Office. He previously was the Director for the University of Tennessee’s Law Enforcement Innovation Center as well as a 30-year career with the Knoxville Police Department. His last role at KPD was as Deputy Chief over the Criminal Investigation Division. He has been actively involved with numerous law enforcement professional organizations such as the Police Executive Research Forum, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association and the FBI National Academy. While involved at the NA, Green served as one of the initial participants in their Leadership Fellows Program, instructing during Sessions 202 and 203, before graduating as a member of the 204th Session. Green has provided law enforcement instruction on Leadership, Domestic Preparedness, Homeland Security, School Safety, working with such groups as the F.B.I., Fox Valley Technical College, LEIC, TACP, and others. He has a B.S. degree in Psychology and an M.S. degree in Criminal Justice from the University of TN, as well as an Ed.S. degree from Lincoln Memorial University. He is a graduate of the Senior Management Institute for Police and U.T.’s Leadership Academy.
Jeff Stiles has worked at Knoxville Police Department for almost 28 years. He is currently in KPD’s management services division, which oversees the Training Academy, budget, and fleet. He transferred there from the Criminal Investigations Division where he worked in the organized crime section and internet crimes against children. He worked in patrol for quite a number of years, was a patrol supervisor, and supervised the SRO unit. He was asked by the State Department of Education to work with them in developing some curriculum for development for vulnerability assessments, safety planning, and all-hazards planning. He has also taught beginning principal's training in Middle Tennessee. He worked in SWAT for 20 years before retiring. Currently, he is in the management service division, working out of the Deputy Chief's office.
