About the Course
This course teaches what a law enforcement officer’s responsibility is in a hazardous materials incident as awareness-level personnel. This course will cover how to detect the presence of hazardous materials, how to survey the scene from a safe distance, and how to use the Department of Transportation Emergency Response Guidebook to gain vital information about hazardous materials.

Alfie Green
Chief Alfie Green has worked for the Detroit Fire Department for 29 years, serving in several capacities including line firefighter, certified driver, fire investigator lieutenant, fire instructor lieutenant, and fire instructor captain. He currently serves as Chief Supervisor of Training.
Chief Green is certified in various capabilities which include fire structure two, medical first responder, peer fitness trainer, and defensive tactics for EMS. He holds a bachelor's and a master's degree in education and human performance management from Wayne State University. He is also a proud graduate of 2016 Eastern Michigan Fire Staff and Command.
